“Being not all there means we’re all here. Hopefully.”

We feel blessed and fortunate to be able to spend this time of our lives exploring, meeting people and visiting places that might have remained unknown to us. Steve dreamed of sailing the high seas for as long as he can remember. Then he met Lizzy. Her dreams closed the circle, and here we are.

Selling up everything to buy a place that floats and that we also would call home brought many challenges, including learning how to sail the good ship Not All There, a 42 foot Lagoon Catamaran. It has all been an amazing experience. From floating in glowing bioluminescent water under the glittering stars on a moonless night, to seeing parts of our anatomy one should normally need a mirror for in a storm . From building a fibreglass helm station bimini under a tree, to waking up aground (fortunately on soft sand) because we forgot about tides. From learning to speak a new language to eating new foods, and some non-foods also. (Did you know termites taste like carrots?)

Life is short, and this planet, tiny as it is in the vast expanse of the universe, is very big. There is so much to see and do. We know we will never see even a tiny fraction of what is out there.

My dad, a banker, used to say: Yesterday is a cancelled cheque, tomorrow a promissory note. Only today is hard cash. Use it wisely.
